The much awaited assemblage of the foot bridge at the Edet Akpan multi carriage has been installed. The foot bridge which on arrival was announced by the Commissioner for Information and Communications Mr. Aniekan Umanah weeks ago is located at Edet Akpan Avenue, closer the round about and links the eight lanes from the right wings from the fence of the providence home with the opposite end which fixed into Eniong Offot Village.
The foot bridge, which was fabricated in Britain is a sight to behold. Spectators were in their numbers where NigerPet Structures was assembling the foot bridge, beholding the beauty of the bridge.
Speaking off camera, the Project Coordinator of NigerPet, Uyo, Wuhid Ahmed said the State Government is out to remodel junctions in Uyo metropolis hence the commencement of the assemblage of pedestrian foot bridge.
He said after constructing the one at Edet Akpan, two more would be fixed at Ikpa road junction to control traffic and assist pedestrians in crossing the roads.
Some pedestrians thanked the State Government for giving the metropolis a face lift adding that the people in the metropolis have felt the dividends of democracy.
The installation of the bridge according to NigerPet Structures will be completed on today Friday 22nd November, 2013.
