Akwa Ibom is set to represent the Country in an International Science competition in United States of America.
The Commissioner for Science and Technology, Deacon Iboro Ekanem, disclosed this while interacting with a cross section of women from Ikono Local Government Area.
The courtesy visit was under the aegis of Ikono Committed Women Network, the Commissioner said the State received the mandate to represent the Country at the International Science Competition slated for May, 2014 after finishing second at the National School Science Competition it hosted sometime last year.
The International Science Competition he hoped will expose students of Air Force Comprehensive Secondary School, Uyo who are the State representatives as well as the entire State to the international community.
He thanked the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Sir (Dr.) Godswill Obot Akpabio (CON), for the support extended to his ministry to host the competition and was positive that the contingents will make the State and Nation proud.
On the match towards 2015, the Commissioner stated that it was the wish of the Governor to hand over to a successor from Eket Senatorial District and urged the women to follow his direction as the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State.
