The serene environment of Eket local government was on Sunday threatened as the Akwa Ibom Secretary to Government, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel led some other members of the State executive council and several other dignitaries, to attend the United Evangelical/ Qua Iboe Church, Eket Superintendency Day celebration.
Mr Emmanuel who first stunned the gathering by his presence at the church having just arrived from an official engagement in Lagos, also took time to minister to the people on th
e need to maintain a culture of diligent service to God and submissiveness to God’s direction in their affairs.
The SSG said that uplift in businesses and other spheres of life only comes from God and he freely gives it to those who serve him diligently, maintaining that the people of the State must strive to bear good fruits in accordance with the teaching of Jesus in John 15.
Appraising the theme of the celebration, “the Lord has need for it”, and taking his references from Luke 19 , he described the physical attributes of Christians in terms of donations needed to aid the propagation of the Gospel, as well as the spiritual attributes which include the heart of service through preaching and ministering of the Gospel of salvation around the world.
Mr Emmanuel, himself a son a Preacher, asserted that where there is Divine direction, people are always there to ask questions just as they asked the disciples of Jesus who went to get a fresh colt for their master, but advised Christians to always disregard the baseless allegations by idle bystanders, but to always remain focused on their goals in life.
He said that God was constantly in need of both the spiritual and physical contributions from the people and also advised that Christians should not neglect their responsibilities of getting involved in the affairs of the State in other to ensure that only God-fearing leaders emerge in the various leadership position in the state.
While appreciating Governor Godswill Akpabio for the huge passion he has displayed in transforming the state into an enviable destination, he called for prayers for continued success of the Akpabio administration.
The SSG later led his colleagues as well as aides of the Governor with donations to support the building project of the church secretariat.
Earlier the Pastor of the Eket Superintendency, Rev Udo Otuiheneme had welcomed the guests to the event with an appeal that they contribute to the completion of the Secretariat Project of the Superintendency.
The Chairman on the occasion and Auditor General for Local Governments in the State Pastor Umo Bassey, had described Mr Udom Emmanuel as a diligent God fearing public servant who has worked so hard to compliment the uncommon transformation programme of Governor Akpabio in the State.
Among the exco members who accompanied the Special Guest of Honour to the Event, were the Commissioners Godwin Ntukude, EmemAbasi Bassey, Usen Nkangude, Akan Okon and Ekpenyong Enyinna.
