Crisis rocking Nigeria’s ruling party People Democratic Party took a drastic turn today as the party announced the immediate suspension of some of its key members. Those affected are the national secretary, former Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, board of trustee members, Sam Jaja, Senator Ibrahim Kazuare and the chairman of the New People Democratic Party (PDP), Kawu Baraje.
Olisa Metuh – spokesperson for the PDP, announced the suspension of the four dissents at a press conference in Abuja.
Metuh stated that the case of the suspended members has been referred to the party’s disciplinary committee for further action.
The panicky measure by the party followed threats by Oyinlola and other to forcefully resume to work at the party secretariat today in fulfillment of a court of Appeal ruling reinstating Oyinlola as the authentic national secretary of the party.
Mr. Metuh claimed that the PDP had not received the court judgement reinstating Oyinolola as the Secretary of the party and therefore, could not comment of its content.
