WAR! Akwa Ibom PDP Warns Goodluck Jonathan’s Adviser on Political Affairs

The Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party has warned the Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak to desist from interfering in the affairs of the State.

The party, in a communique issued on Tuesday night, after its Executive Committee Meeting in Uyo, condemned the “ignoble and contemptuous role of Alhaji Gulak, who visited the State recently and threw all known protocol overboard in purporting to inaugurate a sectional and unknown Support Group in favour of our dear President, without bothering to pay any courtesy to the State leadership of the party.”

Here’s the Communique…

Pursuant to Sections 24, Sub-sections (1) (2) and (3) of the Peoples’ Democratic Party Constitution 2012 (as amended), the State Executive Committee meeting of the PDP, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, was held today, Tuesday, 22nd April, 2014 in Uyo.

In attendance at the meeting were the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief (Dr.) Godswill Obot Akpabio, CON; Her Honour, the Deputy Governor; the State Chairman of Party, Obong Paul Ekpo; state officers of the Party; the Deputy Speaker, leading other leaders of the State House of Assembly; Senators and other members of the National Assembly (past and present); all Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of Local Government Councils; chapter chairmen of the Party, etc.

The meeting exhaustively deliberated on a number of issues and resolved as follows:

(a) That the Town Hall meetings embarked upon by the State Government under the able and visionary Leadership of His Excellency, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, CON, was positively unprecedented, timely, inspiring and most welcome.

(b) In line with the decisions reached at the various Town Hall meetings held in all the Ten (10) Federal Constituencies, the decisions of:
(i) the Party State Working Committee,
(ii) the body of Chapter Chairmen of our Party, and
(iii) the body of Local Government Chairmen/Vice-Chairmen,
and pursuant to Section 7 (3) of the Party Constitution 2012 (as amended) stipulating adherence to the “policy of the rotation and zoning of Party and public elective offices in pursuance of the principle of equity, justice and fairness” the meeting zones the Governorship position to Eket Senatorial District.

This is without prejudice to the right of any other person from other Senatorial Districts to contest for the Governorship seat in 2015.

(c) The meeting unanimously passed a vote of confidence on His Excellency, the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, on his pivotal roles and the transformational agenda in Nigeria and urged him to contest the 2015 Presidential Election.

(d) The meeting passed a vote of confidence on His Excellency, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, CON, for the unprecedented way he has turned around the fortunes of Akwa Ibom State through the uncommon transformation programmes and his continuous support to Mr. President and the Party, both at the national and state levels, and urged him to accede to the request of the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District to represent the zone, and indeed, the State in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2015.

(e) The meeting considered the revolutionary roles of His Excellency, Alhaji Adamu Muazu, the National Chairman of our Party, “Mr Game Changer” in restoring the confidence of Nigerians in our great Party and passed a vote of confidence on him and all the members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of our Party.

(f) The meeting condemned the ignoble and contemptuous role of Alhaji Ahmed Gulak, the Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, who visited the State recently, threw all known protocols overboard in purporting to inaugurate a sectional and unknown Support Group in favour of our dear President without bothering to pay any courtesies to the State Leadership of the Party. The meeting advised Mr. President to caution his Aides who are bent on causing disaffection in various states of the Federation purporting to act on behalf of the Villa and further advised Ahmed Gulak to sort out PDP problems in Adamawa State, deliver Adamawa State to the President before rushing to safe territories like South South Nigeria where President Jonathan requires no campaign.

(g) The meeting warns Alhaji Gulak to desist from further interference in the affairs of the State as we do not need the assistance of any outsider to campaign here for Mr. President.

(h) The meeting condemns in totality all forms of terrorism and its manifestations in the country, particularly the recent bombing of innocent civilians at Nyanya, Abuja, and the abduction of innocent girls at Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Bornu State.

Dated and signed this 22nd Day of April, 2014.
