Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief (Dr.) Godswill Akpabio, led political bigwigs from Akwa Ibom on a courtesy visit to the National Chairman of PDP, Ahaji Adamu Ma’azu at the National House Abuja.
Chief Akpabio said the visit to the new PDP Chairman at Wadata House was informed by the fact that the state has always been on the need for the support of the PDP at the National level.
The Governor further explained that the solidarity visit was to affirm the state’s support for President Goodluck Jonathan, to contest the 2015 election now that INEC has released the time table for the general elections.
While expressing confidence on the ability of the new chairman of the PDP to handle the affairs of the party, Governor Akpabio stressed the need for effective grass root campaign for the PDP to win at all levels.

He promised a level plain field for all contestants as the leader of PDP in the state adding that those aspiring for political office should know that elections are won at home and not at the Wadata House in Abuja.
The State Chairman of the PDP Obong Paul Ekpo, who presented a speech on the solidarity visit congratulated the new chairman of the PDP, Ahaji Adamu Ma’azu, on behalf of the party faithful from Akwa Ibom State.
Obong Ekpo informed the new National Chairman of the PDP that Akwa Ibom State has been a shelter of Peace and a symbol of Unity noting that the Party was crisis proof in the state because the government and PDP were working to serve the people.
Obong Ekpo said that PDP faithfuls in the state were happy that the collective confidence of the party was resting on the firm and able shoulder of Ahaji Adamu Ma’azu, trusting that he will stir the party to berth at their desired destination.
Responding, the new National Chairman of the PDP Ahaji Adamu Ma’azu, thanked Governor Akpabio, the State and National Assembly members from Akwa Ibom State and other stakeholders for the solidarity visit.
The National Party Chairman perceived the stakeholders of the party would do its best to win election at all levels in 2015.
He advised the PDP faithfuls to engage in effective grass root campaign noting that the party does not and would not anoint any candidate.
Those on the solidarity visit from the state were Senator Helen Esuene, Ita Enang, Obong Nse Ntuen, chairman of Essien Udim Local Government, Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Political Leader, Chief Michael Afangideh, among others.
