The member representing Ikono State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon Victor Udofia, on Saturday in Ibeno Local Government Area, saw hell in the hands of two MOPOL officers attached to the Manager of Finance, Exxon Mobil.

Apart from the lawmaker, who is the Chairman, House Committee on NDDC, others who were assaulted and scorned by the MOPOL officers attached to the Mobil Finance boss are: the Clerk and Engineers of the NDDC House Committee, Vice Chairman, Secretary, deputy leader, supervisors of Ibeno Local Government Council, the Assembly press corps, amongst others.

The Chairman, House Committee on NDDC, Hon Udofia, however led a delegation to Ibeno Local Government Area in continuation of his committee’s inspection of all NDDC projects across the State.

Findings reveal that the visit to Ibeno, was the twenty-eighth (28th) Local Government Area so far visited, since the tour kick-started on Monday 4th November, 2013.

However, it was not a smooth outing for the team as their inspection was stalled for over forty five (45) minutes. Trouble started when the House of Assembly team arrived an inspection site at QIT Junction, Inua Eyet Ikot-Okposo Road and were inspecting a 4 Billion Naira abandoned road construction awarded to Movanni Global Service Limited when the car that carried the Manager of Finance, Exxon Mobil insisted the House Committee team should halt their inspection for the lady Finance boss to pass, whilst other law
abiding motorists had to wait for a while.

Allegedly acting on the orders of the Exxon Mobil Finance boss, two of her MOPOL officers, Okon Francis, a corporal and Mfon Friday, arrogantly and with total disrespect immediately came down and ordered the House Committee and his team of Engineers who were busy taking measurement of the road, to give way for their madam.

Attempts by the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) who led the lawmaker’s entourage, QSS men, Vice Chairman of Ibeno Local Government Council, Hon Esther Michael, to reason with the Exxon Mobil MOPOL were unfruitful, as they walked away and insisted on hitting the team with their car if the House Committee did not give way.

The Finance boss was of the opinion that she has no business whatsoever with the House of Assembly member and does not care about their so called inspection.

The lawmaker, who after introducing himself and still got humiliated called the MOPOL 26 commander, Uyo, who gave orders to remedy the situation.

Tongues were wagging on why Exxon Mobil who had promised to pay compensation of about 26.5 Billion Naira to their host communities for the recent oil spillage in the area but rescinded would descend on a House of Assembly member who was carrying out his oversight function.

Meanwhile, youth and elders of the Ibeno community who watched the shameful display of power by the policemen have called on the Inspector General of Police and the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, to court-marshal the two corporals attached to the Exxon Mobil Finance Director, Okon Francis and Mfon Friday.
