Akwa Ibom Government has restated its willingness to still remain a shareholder in Champion Breweries Plc, Uyo even as Heineken Group has indicated its readiness to invest in the company.
Governor Godswill Akpabio, who stated this Tuesday when the Heineken President in Africa and the Middle East, Mr. Siep Hiemstra paid him a courtesy visit at Governor’s Office, Uyo, remarked, “We pledge that the state government would still main a shareholder in Champion Breweries Plc to still be your able partners.
According to him, “So, I am glad that Heineken Group has finally decided to invest in Champion Breweries in the state and we are looking forward to massive improvement and the creation of employment opportunities”.
“We are working hard to re-invigorate the existing industries in the state, which is why we have put in necessary infrastructure to complement the various industries in the state and we believe the company would be beneficiary to the entire state”, he added.
Speaking earlier, the Heineken President in Africa and the Middle East, Mr. Hiemstra had said that the future of Champion Breweries Plc is to make a better investment plans and that the state is far a better place to discuss feasibility studies.
Hiemstra, who congratulated the Governor on the infrastructural development of the state, pointed out that he was also in the state to celebrate the success and prosperity of the state.
