Wetinhappen Magazine Nigeria's #1 Exclusive Information websiteAkwa Ibom State Governor, His Excellency Sir (Dr.) Godswill Akpabio (CON), has charged Akwa Ibom youths to look out for a personality with a forgiving spirit who is youth friendly and also willing to sustain the uncommon transformation in the State in choosing who succeeds him in 2015.
The Governor gave the charge at the Christ the King Primary School grounds Uyo while addressing an end of year gathering of Akwa Ibom youths from across the 31 Local Government Areas.
Gov. Akpabio who listed the expected attributes of the personality that would become the State’s number one citizen said it was not enough for the State to witness uncommon transformation in his tenure noting that what was important was the sustainability of development after his tenure.
The Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, in his goodwill message to the youths said now is the time for the youths to define their future having realized that Sir Akpabio has given them insight into the future.
He described Gov. Akpabio as a leader that creates change adding that the youths should follow the change for sustainable development.
The State Chairman of the people’s Democratic Party, Obong Paul Ekpo said the strength of the party was the youths.
He thanked the youths for their support noting that Gov. Akpabio has not failed the party and the people because the Governor has kept to the promises made to them.
Special Assistant to the Governor on youth mobilization, Mr. Emmanuel Ekpenyong, thanked the Governor for carrying the youths along as well as giving them a sense of direction.
Meanwhile Chief Akpabio has treated senior citizens and stake holders in the Akwa Ibom project to a cock tail party at the Government House to round off the year 2013.
At the cock tail, he paid special tributes to the police and security agencies for the peace and harmony enjoyed in the State.
He announced that the walls of Abak prison will be pulled down to make way for the Uyo/Abak dual carriage way adding that what’s left of the site will pose a new independent hall to replace the one which was pulled down to make way for the Abak/ Ikot Ekpene dual carriage way.
The cock tail featured performances by artists and renditions by Gov. Akpabio and His wife, Ekaette Unoma Akpabio.
