The Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Mr Udom Emmanuel has charged the people of the State to pay premium attention to issues bothering on security in the state.

Reacting to the recent apprehension of some armed bandits that had attacked a political chieftain in the State, by men of the State Security Service, Mr Udom Emmanuel said that the security of life and property was not a sole responsibility of Government, as everyone had a duty to always report suspicious movements to the relevant law enforcement agencies in the state.

Mr Emmanuel spoke during the 2014 Zone E Convention of the Men’s Fellowship, Qua Iboe /United Evangelical Church held at Qua Iboe Church Ewet Offot, Uyo over the weekend.

While admonishing the men to rise up to their Divine mandate of reaching out and spreading the good news of salvation to people, the SSG who is a member of the Church, frowned at the laxity of men who continue to shy away from preaching the Gospel of Jesus as instructed by God.

According to him, the zonal convention of Men’s fellowship could record a larger attendance if men, could imitate the example of the founder of the Church, Rev Samuel Bill who left the comfort of his country, Ireland, to live and preach the Gospel of Christ to Nigerians.

The SSG, who is a Deacon of the church, expressed displeasure at the crises that has polarized the church and maintained that as “an action or inaction of men, the problem bedeviling the progress of the Church would soon come to an end”.

Mr Emmanuel urged the state to continue to support the development-driven administration of Chief Godswill Akpabio and to always pray for his continuous success.

He lamented that despite the enormous achievements recorded by Governor Akpabio which have led to the unprecedented transformation of the state, some people still took delight in wrongly criticizing him.

Earlier, the Zone E Coordinator of the Men’s Fellowship of the United Evangelical Church(QIC), Elder Charles Etukudo had welcomed Mr Udom Emmanuel who came accompanied by the State Commissioner for Finance, Mr Akan Okon, and other dignitaries to the convention.

He said that the 4-day convention with the theme “Man: The Image of God” , was meant to provide men an avenue to ponder on whether they were living up their Divine responsibilities.

He maintained that the charge by the various speakers and resource persons in the convention had been “anchored on God’s Mercy and Grace to redeem us for a Divine restoration to the image of God which we were created.”
